My Works

I write fiction for all ages. Besides the flash fiction here on my blog, here are some of my works:

Picture Books

  • Baby's Morning
A sweet memory of a seven month old's day.
    Completed--ages 1+

  • Dozer Days: Lil' Dozer's Big Rescue
First in a series. Lil' Dozer longs to be big and strong, like his brothers, but when a favorite race car gets stuck in a tunnel beneath the sandbox construction site, only Lil's Dozer is small enough to come to the rescue.
    In revision -- Ages 2+

  • The Lonely Little Asteroid
An asteroid zooms through the solar system, from sun to oort cloud, in search of a friend.
Completed and fully illustrated -- Ages 3+

  • Johnny's Game (Theory) -- Based on John von Neumann's work on game theory
During a walk in the woods, a squirrel steals young Johnny's favorite marble. To win it back, Johnny must defeat the squirrel at a game of cards. Johnny puts his mathematical mind to work, analyzing the statistical likelihood of each card winning–and the chance that sneaky squirrel is bluffing.
Complete, actively querying agents. (I can illustrate it if you want!) -- Ages 5+
  • Catface
A boy with a cat's face accidentally curses an obnoxious classmate, turning her from a metaphorical pig to a real one.
    In revision -- Ages 7+

Middle Grade

  • The Adventures of the Good Ship Toaster (series)
Inspired by a dyslexic student's request for a science fiction chapter book. Since I could find nothing suitable, I decided to write (and illustrate) my own. Featuring everything my kids love, from dinosaurs to non-Euclidean spaces.
    On hold -- Ages7+

Young Adult

  • A Midwinter Night's Revolution
The French Revolution, but with goblins and romance.
    Complete -- Ages 13+

Adult

  • Djinn
Magical realism meets historical fiction during the waning days of the Anatolian Empire. Nazeem escapes from slavery when his caravan is devoured by an evil djinn. He's determined to survive in the desert--better alone than enslaved--no matter how many pieces of his heart he has to carve off.
Actively writing -- 100k words and counting
